5 common mistakes
5 common mistakes for pregnancy poses in front of the camera
Bringing a child into the world is one of the most memorable and significant events in the life of a woman. All the wonderful moments of motherhood can be relieved through maternity portraits. However, many couples often tell me they wish they could have done the pregnancy poses differently, in order to convey the sentimental nature of these photos more beautifully. For that reason, as an experienced fine art photographer, I have put together five common mistakes that you should avoid to have the photos you dream of.
Bad Hand PosesIf you have poorly placed your hands, then it can make the pose look distracting. These include pushing hands to the face or displaying too much palm or tensed fingers.
Solution: Be sure not to place the hand close to the face, which creates a distraction. You need to keep your hands relaxed and nicely place the pinky side of the hand facing the camera.
Weak Expression
It's a maternity photoshoot, so tense, unbelievable, and uncomfortable expressions are a BIG NO. This creates a lot of distraction from the entire image and doesn't make it look nice.
Solution: The best way to deal with weak expressions is to relax your eyebrows, forehead, and lips. When trying to maintain eye contact, make sure to look strong and make genuine connections with the camera.
Poor PostureA poor posture can cause a shortened neck with compressed height, making the weight look gathered in the midsection.
Solution: Stand without slumping your back, moving upwards and forward – in that way the pose will turn out smoothly. Pull through straight through the top of the head and elongate.
Foreshortening PoseCompressing the arms and legs while posing makes the body look shorter, heavy, and cut off.Solution: Foreshortening pregnancy pose and coming directly towards or away from the camera should be avoided. Making adjustments to your position or changing the posture with arms or legs not facing the camera directly can turn out more naturally.
Merger Often the placement of the arms or the elements such as the clothing can make the picture look unflattering. For example, having arms placed tightly to the body and wearing heavy clothes can actually make you look heavy.Solution: Wearing long sleeves and leaving lots of room for negative space can make your body look more flattering. This can be worked out by creating more negative space while posing, utilising in-body posing, and using different arm positions. In addition, you must also try to avoid baggy clothing.
And finally, the last thing you would want to miss out on is having fun while experimenting with pregnancy poses. Just relax and make the most of this special occasion that will remind you of beautiful and happy moments. Remember, you also don’t want to rush booking at the last minute. This can result in hiring an inexperienced photographer who might leave you disappointed.
